Lab day 3 started with welding safety training, where participants learned the importance of safety in welding and safe practices around the welding equipment. Decorations, after their successful field trip to Huntington Library and Gardens on Friday, returned with many ideas and a lot of motivation to test and process. Color testing happened with the robot, the stump, the butterflies, and the toucan, while more processing was completed on cornflowers for the macaw feathers. Meanwhile, the vials were finally counted, the front of Building B was organized, a shelf for paints was built, and emails were sent to the Huntington Gardens. Construction continued their work on mechanisms, including welding on the robot arm, the bird frame, and lemur legs. The motors for the lemur also saw significant progress, as did linkage on the frog. Hydraulics and electronics focused on testing today. The welding curtains task continued this week, with many more being built. Design continued work on their elements this week, welding and shaping different pieces. Concealment continued carving, plants, leaves, and even butterflies emerging from the blocks. All in all, a great week for everyone!
