We are having our OPEN HOUSE at lab this Saturday, May 4, from 10AM-2PM and you’re invited!!! This is a great opportunity for you to get a tour of our lab. You will also get a sneak peak at what we are working on this part of the year and actually work on things that can be showcased on the new 2014 float!!! Rose Float won the Bob Hope Humor award last year for “Tuxedo Air.” Get insider information on decorations, construction, design, animation, electronics, animation, and the merchandise departments. We can show you how to weld, metal work, process decorations, and machining and hydraulics, which is a true hands on experience! We will also be providing free food! Dress in clothing you don’t mind getting dirty in. Wear closed toe shoes, no slip ons or sandals. No shorts/skirts, dresses.

Start getting involved in Cal Poly Pomona’s legacy, our 66th year building a float, the 125th year of the Tournament of Roses Annual Parade and the 100th Rose Bowl Game this year. Rose Float has already started working toward another float and if you get involved now, we can give you projects to work on that will be a part of the float. Click here to join our facebook event.

Rose Float Lab is located in building 64, the Rose Float Laboratory, which is North of Agricultural Engineernig Tractor shop building 47.

Directions to Rose Float Lab

1. Coming from the 10 FWY, make left on Kellogg Drive

2. From Kellogg Drive, make left on University Drive

4. From University Drive, make a left on Eucalyptus Lane

5. From Eucalyptus Lane, make a right on Citrus Lane

6. From Citrus Lane, make a left at the Cal Poly Rose Float sign

7. Follow dirt road, at dead end make a right

8. Arrive at Cal Poly Pomona Rose Float Lab

Rose Float gave a presentation to a large group of EGR 100 students today! The slideshow, though it covered all three departments of the team, focused on the most engineering-centric component of the team: Construction.

Cal Poly Universities Rose Float Concept Contest

Have an idea of what the 2014 Cal Poly Universities float should look like?

Entries must be:

-Color or Black and White

-Max Size is 11″x17″

This year’s official parade theme is “Dreams Come True”. Anyone can enter and there is no limit to the amount of submissions. Concepts must be submitted to the Office of Student Life (Att: Greg Lehr) at the Pomona campus or Rose Float Office or the Epicenter (both in the UU) at the San Luis Obispo campus by Friday, February 8th at 5pm with your name and contact information.

The winner will receive their choice of either two Rose Bowl tickets or $500!!!

Cal Poly Pomona Rose Float Leadership Application 2013-2014

Hello Rose Float students,

The 2013-2014 Cal Poly Pomona Rose Float Leadership Application is now available.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: All COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS are due Monday, January 7, at 12:00 PM to Nelson Chang, nelsonchang@csupomona.edu. The interviews for all positions outside of DDC (Decorations, Design, and Construction) chairs, as well as Vice Chair, will take place on Thursday, January 10^th at 6pm in the Rainbow Weaver Conference Room (in the Old Stables across from the BSC.) Please e-mail Nelson Chang for any time conflict or to discuss other options.

All CLUB APPLICATIONS are due by January 23^rd, 12 PM to Karissa Perez at karissaperez@csupomona.edu. Club elections will be held on January 24^th at 12 Noon during a Club Meeting in Building 66, Room 126.

The Cal Poly Universities need to find more space on the mantle – or maybe they should get another mantle. For the 51st time in 65 years, the only student-built float in the Rose Parade earned an award, this time the Bob Hope Humor Trophy, which recognizes the most comical and amusing entry.

**Individuals or groups with less than 8 people DO NOT have to submit a reservation and are able to walk in at the check-in booth at any time or day of Decorations week (December 26th-31st.)
